Playgrounds! Part 2: Implementation

I used SketchUp to design a playground at the site of 627 English Avenue based on the findings my rising 5th grade research partner and I found in Part 1. Designing a playground for this site is about more than just equipment, materials, or even play itself. It’s a small act of hope, a way to honor the site’s history and invite the next generation to impact its future. By weaving together community voices, educational values, and the joy of movement and discovery, this project imagines a space where children and adults alike can reconnect with the land, with each other, and with the endless possibilities that play unlocks. As the neighborhood continues to change, the playground stands as a reminder: every place holds the possibility for something new, and every act of play is a step towards a brighter, more caring community.
